Correction: Exonic Splicing Mutations Are More Prevalent than Currently Estimated and Can Be Predicted by Using In Silico Tools

چکیده
There is an error in Fig 4. The symbol for correlation coefficient "ρ" should be replaced with "r", to match the description in the main text and Figure legend. Please see the correct Fig 4 here. There is a typographical error in the last sentence of the paragraph following Fig 4 (Results section): ‘ΔΔHZEI’ should be replaced with ‘ΔHZEI’. The correct sentence is: “Moreover, given their lack of comprehensiveness and global quantitation, the performance of these two in silico tools could not be statistically analyzed, nor properly compared to that of ΔtESRseq, ΔHZEI, ΔC or EX-SKIP.”

Exonic Splicing Mutations Are More Prevalent than Currently Estimated and Can Be Predicted by Using In Silico Tools
The identification of a causal mutation is essential for molecular diagnosis and clinical management of many genetic disorders. However, even if next-generation exome sequencing has greatly improved the detection of nucleotide changes, the biological interpretation of most exonic variants remains challenging. Moreover, particular attention is typically given to protein-coding changes often negl...
متن کاملAnalysis of 30 Putative BRCA1 Splicing Mutations in Hereditary Breast and Ovarian Cancer Families Identifies Exonic Splice Site Mutations That Escape In Silico Prediction
Screening for pathogenic mutations in breast and ovarian cancer genes such as BRCA1/2, CHEK2 and RAD51C is common practice for individuals from high-risk families. However, test results may be ambiguous due to the presence of unclassified variants (UCV) in the concurrent absence of clearly cancer-predisposing mutations. Especially the presence of intronic or exonic variants within these genes t...
متن کاملStudy of frequency and spectrum of GJB2 gene mutations in non-syndromic hearing loss patients of Semnan province
Abstract Background and aim: The frequency of hearing impairment is one out of 500 newborn babies, worldwide. However, in Iran, due to the high prevalence of consanguineous marriages, this amount is estimated to be two to three times higher. So far, more than 120 genes causing non-syndromic Hearing loss (NSHL) have been identified in the world, of which GJB2 gene mutations are the most common c...
متن کاملFunctional investigation of the BRCA1 Val1714Gly and Asp1733Gly variants by computational tools and yeast transcription activation assay
Mutations in the BRCA1 gene are known to be a major cause of hereditary breast cancer. However, characterizing the point mutationsassociated with cancer in BRCA1 is challenging because the functional impact of most of them is still unknown. Nowadays, a variety of methods are employed to identify cancer-associated mutations in BRCA1. This study is aimed to ass...
متن کاملIdentification of a Novel Splice Site Mutation in RUNX2 Gene in a Family with Rare Autosomal Dominant Cleidocranial Dysplasia
Introduction: Pathogenic variants of RUNX2, a gene that encodes an osteoblast-specific transcription factor, have been shown as the cause of CCD, which is a rare hereditary skeletal and dental disorder with dominant mode of inheritance and a broad range of clinical variability. Due to the relative lack of clinical complications resulting in CCD, the medical diagnosis of this disorder is challen...
